“From Darkness to Light” – 80 Years since the End of the War

On Friday, August 15, 2025, at 7 PM, the State Youth Orchestra and the State Youth Choir Rheinland-Pfalz will perform under the title “From Darkness to Light” at the Kurtheater in Bad Ems, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the war.

At the center is Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's “Lobgesang,” a symphony-cantata full of romantic splendor. With moving melodies and texts, the work for soloists, choir, and orchestra conveys comfort, hope, and the overcoming of darkness – a message that couldn't be more relevant today.

Under the direction of the award-winning conductor Katharina Morin, soloists from the Hochschule für Musik Mainz, together with the best musical talents in our country, will create an evening that connects the past and the present in chorus and orchestra.
