A little knight in search of great happiness
A fun experience for the whole family, suitable for children aged 4 and up
A true knight's story with puppets, music, metal, and lots of clattering, performed on an old sewing machine. A small journey into the Middle Ages, the time of strong, brave knights who lived in magnificent castles, dined at festive tables, defeated dragons, rescued princesses, and emerged victorious from every battle.
Utz was different: A small, poor knight in an oversized armor, who owned nothing except his hammock and his loyal horse Rosswitha. One day he decides to venture into the world, hoping to find a little happiness somewhere. But bad luck seems to stick to his feet. Even when he manages to find a magnificent treasure of gold, his joy is short-lived, for back then the forests were filled with dangerous robbers and greedy dragons …
And although everything goes wrong for Utz, he throws himself again and again, defiant and unwavering, into the next adventure – into the next misfortune.
How he still achieves everything he has dreamed of, and how he learns that happiness sometimes looks very different than one expects, is what this story is about.
Here, not only are puppets playfully used, but also all sorts of kitchen utensils. Tea strainers and cake forks become giant mosquitoes, funnels become fanfares, and a potato presse turns into the dangerous dragon Güldenzahn. The old sewing machine table also has surprises. It creaks and groans when the back panels open like castle gates, when they fold out into a castle tower, or when Utz and Rosswitha start to ride clattering in mechanical hoofbeat rhythm. The whole thing is live accompanied by various instruments, like kazoo, harmonica, jingles, rattles, whistles, castanets, and a bagpipe.
