Wanderung auf der Georoute Watzenhahner Riesen mit Taunusklub Bad Ems

Short facts

Invitation to the hike on Sunday

The Wäller Tours include the geo-route "Watzenhahner Riesen." It leads around and over the Watzenhahn, a distinctive basalt mountain between Willmenrod, Berzhahn, Girkenroth, and Weltersburg. It holds some secrets. In addition to the aforementioned giants and sunburners, a "Golden Man" is also being sought, who was cast from the gold treasures of a murdered noble family. According to legend, the Lords of Weltersburg, whose castle ruins we encounter on the Küppel, were also disgracefully involved.

The route is 13.4 km long and overcomes 327 meters of elevation gain. Participation is at your own risk. The final rest stop is planned at the Gaststätte Jung in 56459 Guckheim, Hauptstraße 1.

Sturdy footwear and your own packed lunch are mandatory, trekking poles are helpful. Guests are, as always, warmly welcomed!

Meeting point and departure is at 10:30 a.m. at the Bad Ems West train station (carpooling arrangements) or at 11:15 a.m. at the hiking parking lot "Geotop Kranstein," halfway between Weltersburg and Wilmenrod on the right side. The return to Bad Ems is planned for 6 p.m.

It is requested that you register by Friday, November 7, 2025, by 4:00 p.m. either by phone at 02603-504770 (answering machine) or juergen-gauer@t-online.de.
