Sometimes the most impressive motifs are very close. Filmmakers Ute and Jakob Breidenbach from Schalkenbach near Bad Neuenahr show in their film presentation how exciting and diverse their homeland can be. With a trained eye and a strong sense for special moments, they take their audience on a visual discovery journey through various regions.
A highlight is the ascent to the roof of Cologne Cathedral. From a lofty perspective, a previously hidden world reveals itself – impressively captured and complemented by exciting information about the history and architecture of the famous cathedral.
History you can touch can be found at the “Old Cemetery” in Bonn. Many significant personalities of the 19th century rest here, including Beethoven's mother, the musical couple Clara and Robert Schumann, as well as philosophers Schlegel and Arndt. The place tells of the early University of Bonn and of people who shaped the intellectual life of their time.
A poetic counterpoint is the cinematic year of an apple tree in the region of Dedenbach in the Brohltal – a quiet nature portrait about change and permanence.

As a monk, priest, poet, and development worker, he embodies a life full of depth and conviction. His decision to preserve the monastery as a homeland is touching and thought-provoking.
The filmmakers Ute and Jakob Breidenbach
Jakob Breidenbach from Schalkenbach has been an enthusiastic photographer since the age of 16. Since 2000, he has expanded his passion towards filmmaking, especially travel films, which have already earned him numerous awards in the field of amateur films. He is supported in this by his wife Ute, who also assists her husband with the film shoots in addition to photography.
