with Taunus Club Bad Ems

For over fifteen years, the fitness group of the Taunusklub Bad Ems has been out and about every Thursday. New participants or guests from the hotels have repeatedly joined in. During the hikes, participants appreciated the slightly cooler temperatures in the morning this year and were still glad not to be hiking in the possibly warmer afternoon. However, occasional rain does not deter hikers from doing something for their fitness. The hikes take place in “any” weather; only in cases of storm and thunderstorm warnings may there be rearrangements or possibly even cancellations. Additionally, train and bus strikes or train cancellations have occasionally led to changes. From January to June 2025, ten participants have already hiked the required 200 km for the “German Walking Badge.”

Regularly and on timeit beginsand then a distance of about 10 km is hiked quietly but not slowly – it’s not a stroll. The local area around Bad Ems offers a variety of hiking options, and after a considerable time, the same route can be taken back. The different seasons also provide a different and interesting impression.

In addition to the approx. 10 km hikes, there is also an additional and increasingly popular hiking offer (B-group) as part of the fitness hikes for everyone who can no longer climb our mountains as well and cannot walk such long distances. The meeting point for the hikes remains mostly the same for everyone. The B-group, however, hikes a shorter distance (5 to 8 km) with fewer inclines.

Everyone who enjoys hiking and wishes to enjoy our beautiful homeland in the fresh air is warmly invited to the hikes. Participation is free; only any incurred travel costs are to be reimbursed. The hike on the first Thursday of the month is always planned and conducted with the least possible inclines.

On July 2, the meeting point is at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lot near the Westbahnhof. From there, the hike will take place along the Lahnhöhenweg to the Miellener Chapel. After descending and crossing the Lahn, the route will initially be on the bike path to the "Beachclub" in Fachbach, where a joint break is planned before returning to the starting point.

On July 9, the meeting point is again at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lot near the Westbahnhof. From there, the hike will go through the Kurpark, Schillerallee, and Hasenbergweg to Sonnenhalde and (almost) Repselskopf. From the crossroads, it will then continue over Untertalen and Schlesierweg to Bismarckhöhe. From there, the return will be via Seitrich, with a final break at the restaurant “Adria.”

The meeting point on July 16 at 9:30 a.m. is for the A-group in Arzbacher Straße at No. 18. From there, the route will go up the bike path and Kohlschied initially to the small Hunert and then continue uphill to Denzerheide. The midday break will be at the golf hotel, and then the return will be through Tannenhof and Kohlschiedbach valley. The B-group will meet that day at 9:30 a.m. at the Westbahnhof (Lidl parking lot) for a hike “in the valley” with a stop at “Akashi.”

On July 23, the A-group will start from the meeting point at 9:30 a.m. in Arzbacher Straße at No. 18 predominantly on the bike path through Emsbachtal to Arzbach for a midday break at the inn “Ristorante am Rathaus” in Arzbach, and from there return to the starting point. The B-group will also meet at 9:30 a.m. at Westbahnhof and take the bus to “Pfingstwiese,” hike from there to Arzbach, and then return by bus.

On July 30, the A-group will depart from the meeting point at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lot near Westbahnhofvia Remybrücke and “Bahndamm” to the bike path until Kohlschied and from there upwards to Mergelkaut. Then it continues over Gräveheid and Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade to Fachbach with a final break at the “Beachclub.” The B-group will also meet at 9:30 a.m. at Westbahnhof and will take a round hike in the Lahntal to Fachbach.

All beautiful destinations and interesting routes that actually invite you to join in hiking, therefore, you are warmly invited to take part and do something good for yourself and your fitness.
