Fitness Hikes 2026 of the Taunus Club Bad Ems

For over fifteen years, the fitness group of the Taunusklub Bad Ems has been out and about every Thursday. New participants or guests from the hotels have constantly joined in. During the hikes, participants have sometimes braved the heat in the mornings of June this year and were still glad not to hike in the even greater midday heat. The hikes take place in “any” weather; only in cases of storm and thunderstorm warnings or extreme heat, like on June 25th, can there be changes or possibly cancellations. From January to July 2025, seven participants have already walked the required 200 km for the “German Hiking Badge”.

Regularly and punctuallyit startsand then a distance of about 10 km is hiked quietly but not sluggishly – it’s not a stroll. The local area around Bad Ems offers a variety of hiking options, and after a considerable time, the same route can also be taken back. The different seasons also provide a different and interesting impression.

In addition to the approximately 10 km hikes, there is also an additional and increasingly popular hiking offer (B-group) as part of the fitness hikes for those who can no longer climb our mountains as well and can't hike such long distances. The meeting point for the hikes usually remains the same for everyone. However, the B-group hikes a shorter distance (5 to 8 km) with fewer inclines.

Everyone who enjoys hiking and wants to enjoy our beautiful homeland in the fresh air is warmly invited to the hikes. Participation is free; only any incurred travel costs need to be reimbursed. The hike on the first Thursday of the month is always planned and carried out with as few inclines as possible.

On September 3rd the meeting point is at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lotat the Westbahnhof. From there, it goes to the “Ernst-Vogler-Weg, the (almost) Bismarckhöhe and Westersbach towards Geiersheck. From there, it continues over the Sonnenhalde back to the Lahn with a stop at “San Marco”.

On September 10th, themeeting point is at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lot at Westbahnhof. From there, the hike goes over the “Weinberg” towards “Espel-Platte”. Downhill through the “Nieren” and the Fachbachtal, the Lahn hiking trail and the final resting place “Akashi” will then be reached.

On September 17th, the meeting point is at 9:30 a.m. at the Westbahnhof (Lidl parking lot). From there, it goes to Hohen Malberg, further towards Forsthaus, and back over the “Spieß” and the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Weg to the starting point or to the final rest at “Goldene Ente” on the Wipsch.

On September 24th, the meeting point is again at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lot at Westbahnhof. On the Lahnhöhenweg, it initially goes as far as the sports field in Nievern and then downhill to the Lahn bridge. In Fachbach, the Kaiser-Friedrich promenade will then be hiked upward and further to Mergelkaut. From there, it’s back via the Ehrlichweg, initially for a break at the restaurant “Adria” and then back to the starting point.

All are beautiful destinations and interesting routes that actually invite you to join in, and therefore, you are cordially invited to be part of it and do something good for yourself and your fitness.
