In search of the blue flower: Heinrich von Ofterdingen (Novalis)
Peregrini e.V. and the Catholic Adult Education Westerwald-Rhein-Lahn invite you to “In Search of the Blue Flower” on Thursday, the 15th of October, at 7.00 p.m. at Haus Fumiko, Seelbacher Str. 3, in 56379 Obernhof.
This Arnstein evening is also themed around the Peregrini annual motto “In Search of Paradise”. You will encounter Heinrich von Ofterdingen, the “hero” from Novalis' unfinished novel. Hedreams of a mysterious blue flower that becomes a symbol for him of the fusion of poetry, love, and spiritual fulfillment. This blue flower is one of the most important symbols of German Romanticism and has become a central motif of this literary epoch.
In the vision of it, the romantic longing for the infinite and the transcendent is revealed. Ella Elia Anschein (Theater der Stadt Aalen) impressively demonstrates how this symbol embodies the yearning for a higher, ideal world while also highlighting the impossibility of fulfilling this aspiration. This search for the blue flower, an inner development representing the worldview of Romanticism, is empathically and touchingly musically interpreted by Annette Müller and Michael Reuter, the duo mülleRReuter.
Even today, the sight of a blue field and garden flower, such as cornflower, chicory, forget-me-not, and delphinium, may spark a small memory or longing in some of you, for according to Novalis, "the blue flower is what everyone seeks, without knowing it themselves"...
