Achtsamkeit und Bogenschießen

Bow and arrow play an important role as ancient symbols in the mysticism of all advanced cultures and have also been transcendent symbols for body and soul, for life and death, this world and the afterlife since ancient times. Accordingly, the bow and arrow symbolize humanity's longing for the overcoming of polarity, for the experience of unity.

A fundamental problem of our time is the one-sidedness with which we perform not only our private but also our professional responsibilities. There are always situations in which it is not our logical thinking with its often rigid concepts that is required – rigid concepts that we often cling to desperately. But in letting go of all concepts and rules and in allowing ourselves to engage with the "now," we could instead achieve an intuitive grasp of a moment.

The workshop "Mindfulness and Archery" initially focuses on practical experiences in shooting with the simple longbow (bows without sights and stabilizers) and an introduction to mindful archery. We experience how it feels to find our stance, to follow the rhythm of our breath, to maintain our posture, and to release at the right moment, to be able to let go.

We learn about materials, techniques, and equipment – the bow should and must not be overdrawn – as well as mindfulness exercises regarding stance, posture, and breathing.

Different bow strengths as well as suitable arrows and equipment (arm guards, gloves) are available.

"Mindful archery" takes place in a ritualized sequence. The archer must find the correct stance, breathe, align themselves, draw, and then simply let go. This pattern can be applied to many everyday situations. It can help to cope with problems that arise in everyday life by changing our perspective and approach.
