Image Presentation: Dr. Ulrich Brand

We begin our historical journey on the Lahn just above Diez at the medieval endpoint of the Diocese of Trier in Dietkirchen, and we then travel through Limburg and Diez to Bad Ems. In the second part, there follows a series of early views that are among the most beautiful of the Rhine Romantic painters Jakob and Anton Diezler from Koblenz, and this section features the oil painting once created for the owners of the Nievern ironworks, which shows the landscape from the Nieverner Hütte to the Emser Bäderlei in a wide sweep. In the third part, views from Lahnstein to Kaub and Bacharach follow, again dominated by the old steel engravings.
