Winden

Counts 800 inhabitants today

At the end of the 50s a brisk construction activity started. Old houses in the centre of the village were renovated and new building areas were created. So about 200 building plots have been newly developed until today. Basic conditions like water and canal had to be created. In the years 1967 to 1969 a deep well and an elevated tank were built. In 1970 the construction of a sewage treatment plant followed. Through all these activities Winden developed into an attractive residential community. The efforts for local renovation and beautification were rewarded. In 1976 Winden became "Most beautiful village of Rhineland-Palatinate" and received the state honour prize. Another enrichment for our community is the community centre, which was opened in 1982. In the course of the further local redevelopment, the village square in the Mittelstraße and a facility on the Kirchstraße with parking spaces were built in the last 10 years. Since 1992, the community has had a nursery, which looks after the children of Winden und Zimmerschied. The nursery is under the sponsorship of the Bad Ems-Nassau municipality. In the same year the construction of the gas supply system was started and is already completed. A new grill hut has been available to the citizens since 1994.
