Zimmerschied

One of the smallest municipalities with 100 inhabitants, located on the southern slope of the Westerwald 

Surrounded by a cultivated and idyllic landscape with fields and meadows, Zimmerschied lies in the middle of a large forest area with well-kept hiking and riding paths in the Nassau Nature Park. The district covers approx. 150 ha, 100 ha of which are in the nature reserve of Nassau. forest. On the well-maintained hiking trails you have a wonderful view on the heights. The village Zimmerschied was first mentioned in a document in 1398. Mrs. Selma Aps, a Zimmerschieder citizen, created a local chronicle in laborious detailed work. The population used to live from agriculture and mining in Bad Ems, and the local community celebrated its 600th anniversary in 1998. For this occasion a pavilion was built in the center of the village. Today it serves as a bus shelter for the bus traffic. Due to its convenient location, you can easily reach the A3 Cologne/Frankfurt motorway by car - and the ICE train station in Montabaur, 12 km away.
