The village Zimmerschied was first mentioned in a document in 1398. Mrs. Selma Aps, a Zimmerschieder citizen, created a local chronicle in laborious detailed work. The population used to live from agriculture and mining in Bad Ems, and the local community celebrated its 600th anniversary in 1998. For this occasion a pavilion was built in the center of the village. Today it serves as a bus shelter for the bus traffic. Due to its convenient location, you can easily reach the A3 Cologne/Frankfurt motorway by car - and the ICE train station in Montabaur, 12 km away.
