A journey into the past of one of the oldest spas north of the Alps
The museum tells the story of health resorts and tourism in Bad Ems and the lower Lahn Valley. The second focus is our prehistorical and early historical department "Life on the Limes".
The museum is run by the city of Bad Ems.
Our visitors should experience history up close and talk about it.
Our museum team is experienced and knowledgeable, and is happy to answer your questions. Whether you join a guided tour or stroll through the museum - feel free to ask us, we would be happy to tell you more.
The spa and city museum in the old town hall has an extensive collection of historical objects from two millennia (literature and visual material), which are related to the historical development of the town and the spa. Here, the history of one of the oldest health resorts north of the Alps is told. Historical bathing brochures, a magnificent collection of artistic spa souvenirs, Germany's oldest roulette, pictures and information panels invite you on a journey into the past. A special focus is dedicated to the World Heritage "Limes". Original finds ranging from amphorae to underfloor heating lead into the world of the Romans.
