Fitness hikes with the Taunus Club in October
Everyone who enjoys hiking and wants to enjoy our beautiful homeland in the fresh air is warmly invited to the hikes. Participation is free, only any incurred travel costs need to be reimbursed. The hike on the first Thursday of the month is always planned and carried out with minimal inclines.
On October 2, the meeting point is at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lot. From there, we will hike up through Lindenbach and the “Taunusklub Serpentine” to the Adolph Temple, then descend to the Henrietta Column and continue to Braubacher Straße. We will hike back up to Wintersberg and then descend from there to Wiesbach. Along the Lahn, we will stop for a break at the "Lahnterrasse" restaurant and return to the starting point.
On October 9, the meeting point is at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lot near the Westbahnhof. From there, we will hike the Lahnhöhen path to the Miellener Chapel. After descending and crossing the Lahn, we will hike back on the cycle path almost to the starting point. Before that, we will make a stop at the restaurant “Akashi”.
The meeting point on October 16 at 9:30 a.m. is for the “A-Group” on Arzbacher Straße at No. 18. From there, we will go up the cycle path and Kohlschied first to the “kleinen Hunert” and then continue uphill to Denzerheide. The midday break will be at the golf hotel, and then we will return via Tannenhof and the Kohlschied valley.
The “B-Group” will also meet on that day at 9:30 a.m. at the Westbahnhof (Lidl parking lot) for a hike "in the valley".
On October 23, the meeting point is again at 9:30 a.m. at the Lidl parking lot near the Westbahnhof. From there, we will hike through the Kurpark, Schillerallee, and Hasenbergweg to Sonnenhalde and (almost) Repselskopf. From the crossroads, we will head towards Untertalen and Schlesierweg to Trümmerborn. Then we will hike back via Seitrich, Walme, and Amselweg, with a final stop at “Alt Ems”.
On October 30, the meeting point for the “A-Group” is at 9:30 a.m. on Arzbacher Straße at No. 18. We will hike along the cycle path and Sporkenburg to the Barabara Chapel in Eitelborn and back. The final stop will be at the “Kreuzmühle”.
The “B-Group” will meet at the Lidl parking lot / Westbahnhof and hike from there to the final stop.
In addition to the approximately 10 km hikes, there is a supplementary hiking offer, which is well received. This takes place as part of the fitness hikes and is directed at all who can no longer climb our mountains so well and cannot walk such long distances. The meeting point for the hikes and the final stop usually remains the same for everyone. The (partial) B-Group hikes a shorter distance (5 to 8 km) with fewer inclines.
For over fourteen years, hiking has taken place weekly, and new participants have continuously joined. The hikes occur in “any” weather; only in storm and thunderstorm warnings might there be changes in plans and possibly cancellations. Sometimes train and bus strikes can lead to changes and cancellations. From January to September 2025, eighteen participants have already hiked the required 200 km for the “German Hiking Badge” and nine have already completed 300 km. Regularly and punctually we set off. We will hike a distance of about 10 km at a leisurely but not crawling pace – not a stroll. The nearby area around Bad Ems offers a variety of hiking opportunities. After some time, the same path can be traversed again. The different seasons provide a different impression.
All beautiful destinations and interesting routes invite you to join us for hiking. Therefore, you are warmly invited to participate and do something good for yourself and your fitness.
