Becheln

Good prospects

The fact that Becheln was once awarded first prize in "Unser Dorf soll schöner werden“ (Our village should become more beautiful) is demonstrated by the beautiful village centre, which emphasises the village and traditional ambience. About 700 inhabitants live in this village on the heights of the Taunus Mountains. Here you can enjoy panoramic hikes on marked trails. On a clear day you can let your gaze wander over the Marksburg Castle to the other side of the Rhine in the Eifel and Hunsrück. But also when viewed from up close, the hiking trails around the area offer some testimony from yesteryear, such as the Celtic burial mounds and well-preserved sections of the Limes. At the watchtowers, at the small fort and in the country inn at the Limes there is information about the construction and function of the Roman border fortifications. The most beautiful section of the pile ditch is accessible by the Limes path as a circular route.
