No visitor should miss this: the famous Deutsche Eck. Due to the settlement of the Teutonic Order at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers in 1216, this historically significant site received its name "Deutsches Eck" (German Corner). Koblenz also owes its name to the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers - in the course of time, "Castellum apud Confluentes", Latin for "the fort at the confluence", became the current name of Koblenz.
