Monument high above the city in honour of the famous reformer Freiherr vom Stein
The famous reformer Freiherr vom Stein was born in Nassau in 1757. In 1872 a monument was erected on this site in his honour, but it was severely damaged in the war. In 1953 a new monument made of shell limestone was erected by the sculptor Eugen Keller and inaugurated in the presence of Federal President Theodor Heuss. In his right hand Stein hooks a document that introduces him as the author of the Nassau memorial and also as a Prussian reformer.
