Monument high above the city in honour of the famous reformer Karl Freiherr vom Stein
The famous reformer Karl Freiherr vom Stein was born in Nassau in 1757. A monument was erected in his honour on the left bank of the Lahn in 1872, which was badly damaged during the Second World War. In 1953, a new monument made of shell limestone was created by sculptor Eugen Keller and inaugurated in the presence of Federal President Theodor Heuss. In his right hand, Stein is holding a document that portrays him as the author of the Nassau Memorandum and also as a Prussian reformer.
