Monument high above the city in honour of the famous reformer Freiherr vom Stein
The famous reformer Freiherr vom Stein was born in Nassau in 1757. A monument was erected in his honour on the left bank of the Lahn in 1872, which was severely damaged during the Second World War. In 1953, a new monument was made of shell limestone by the sculptor Eugen Keller and inaugurated in the presence of Federal President Theodor Heuss. In his right hand Stein holds a document that presents him as the author of the Nassau Memorandum and also as a Prussian reformer.
