Former ironworks

The "Nieverner Hütte", one of the most impressive industrial monuments in Rhineland-Palatinate, today belongs to the Fachbach district. The ironworks was founded in 1671 by the entrepreneurial family Mariot and initially produced cannons. It gained its greatest importance in the second half of the 19th century, when the ironworks ceased operations and the production of cast iron goods became the main focus: Cooking utensils, construction castings, ovens, railings and other iron products from the Nieverner Hütte reached many households until it was closed down in 1932, and some of them are still in existence today.
