Peregrini e.V. presents...
Book discussions at tea time...
4:00 PM Topic: The Book of Hours, the most popular book format of the Middle Ages..
Books of Hours were usually elaborately decorated with book ornamentation. Individual copies belong to the most splendid illustrated manuscripts ever produced. The most famous and artistically valuable are likely the Books of Hours of the Duke of Berry (1340–1416), including the Très riches heures (Chantilly, Musée Condé, Ms. 65), which were considered by contemporaries as the pinnacle of bibliophilic treasures.
7:00 PM Topic: The Elizabeth Psalter at the Thuringian Landgrave Court
A prayer book for the secular high nobility between religious reform and court culture
