“Cat Music” – a delightful concert for young and old
Music: Duo Müller Reuter Texts: Gaby Fischer
The evening is dedicated – in memory of the exhibition in Koblenz 2024 – to the cats in the "Book of Kells," where they abound. Therefore, the delightful concert for young and old begins with a visit to the cats in the monastery on Iona, where the Book of Kells is thought to have originated. The furry friends and mouse hunters, to whom agility was already bestowed at birth, were lovingly used by the monks who wrote and illustrated this book for illustrative purposes. And then follows an amusing excursion into the very distant past: “Someday I'll catch them all…” This experience is made by the wild woman in the wild forest of ancient times, as she starts to make contact with the wild animals after taking up residence in a cozy cave: She entices the dog – designated as the servant and guardian of her husband – with the bones of her roasted lamb, she makes the horse – destined as a riding and pack animal – and the cow – as a future milk provider – serve her with fragrant hay. But one animal cannot be bribed: the cat. It only does what it wants and follows its own paths in the wild forest… Annette Müller sings amusing – partly self-written – cat songs, cheerfully accompanied on the piano by Michael Reuter.
