THE WORLD IS NOT ENDING BECAUSE OF THAT - The 20s are now! Fast-paced theater with music
Saturday, September 19
Kurtheater Bad Ems
Römerstr. 8
7 PM
At night in two Berlin artist apartments.
In one, the writer Emil Henneberger (Thomas Linke) struggles with time and his landlady in the 1920s, while in the other, singer Sissi Schmidt (Marianne Blum) and pianist Henriette "Henry" Bauch (Anna Maria Haas) are rehearsing for their lives in present-day Berlin. All three are to showcase a preview of their next show at a legendary Berlin salon. Two parallel lives that first comment on each other in a sparkling interplay, then magically blend and reveal real abysses.
Dialogues with flying pieces, fast-paced scene changes, cheeky maternal wit, catchy songs: Erich Kästner, Kurt Tucholsky, Claire Waldoff, Billy Wilder – the great humorists have unmistakably inspired this and would have a blast at this turbulent theater delight that celebrates the golden 1920s while remaining highly topical.
