Axel Neumann - 3 Weeks Without Light
An artist evening about border experiences and the images we encounter there.
Would you dare? Three weeks of absolute darkness. No sound.
Just you – and the images that gradually rise within you?
The Berlin artist and actor Axel Neumann (among others, Tatort, 7 Dwarfs - The Forest is Not Enough) has experienced just that. What began as a self-experiment of a young theater actor paved the way for a new form of art. Ever since, he has tirelessly transferred the images that have imprinted themselves in his consciousness in the darkness to paper using a fountain pen in tireless, meticulous detail work: thousands of works, vast color worlds, a unique symbolic language.
For over 33 years, Axel Neumann has painted daily for 14 to 18 hours at a stretch. "I am nothing, the thing is everything." This is his motto as he transcends himself and goes to the utmost to realize his visions. Today, he stands before a monumental work that far exceeds the boundaries of the personal and speaks a universal language of inner images.
Extraordinary consciousness experiences are not a marginal phenomenon. Who does not know the dreams that are so vivid as if they were real? Or the moments of crisis when suddenly the door to something much greater opens? More often than not, life afterwards is different.
In the captivating artist evening "3 Weeks Without Light," Axel Neumann shares his border experience, accompanied by changing projections of his hypnotic works and a personal dialogue with his wife, curator Patrizia Neumann. She complements her husband's personal accounts with old and new knowledge about the phenomenon.
With familial charm, the artist couple connects painting, science, and deep humanity into an evening that resonates long after. An irresistible invitation to rediscover your own inner worlds! Authentic, approachable, 100% human.
