Kemmenau is also known as the "sun terrace over the Lahn valley". The state-approved resort in the Westerwald is situated between 400 and 486 metres above sea level and offers an excellent low mountain range climate, yet is only about three kilometres away from the spa town of Bad Ems. Surrounded by forest, as is typical for the Nassau Nature Park, Kemmenau offers a beautiful setting especially for outdoor sports activities: Horseback riding, carriage rides, tennis and cross-country skiing in winter. The countryside invites you to hike all year round, for example, a tour on the Limes hiking trail in the footsteps of the ancient Romans down into the Lahn Valley or a circular trail past the renovated horse trough and the so-called "White Stone". There is also a Kneipp facility in the middle of nature. Today, Kemmenau is often regarded as an insider tip for city dwellers seeking relaxation.
