Day stage for an intensive paddling experience
Wild and romantic river landscapes make the Lahn a paradise for canoeists. Past untouched floodplains or steep rock faces, there is something new to discover behind every bend in the river. On the way there are enough possibilities to visit a rest stop or a camping site.
This day trip leads from Balduinstein to Obernhof.
Under the bridge opposite Balduinstein station, after a few paddle trains, the first lock is reached. Afterwards you will pass Geilnau at your leisure. From
there to Laurenburg there is only pure nature. To the right and left there are meadows and woods, the valley becomes narrower and narrower and more and more attractive with every kilometre of the river. The Lahn makes an almost circular arc and this has been used for a hydroelectric power station. After the hydroelectric power station, the valley widens again until Laurenburg, where there are rest and refreshment facilities as well as the castle of the same name. After Laurenburg, the paddle tour leads past a water ski track and the little village of Kalkofen. Not far away, and vineyards on the right hand side announce the wine village Obernhof. There the Lahn wine tastes best in a cosy round in one of the wine taverns and crowns the approximately 20 kilometre long daily stage of the paddle tour.
The Lahn Valley Railway brings you back to the starting point every hour along the entire route!
