Premium trail with fantastic views of Bad Ems and the Lahn Valley

The HöhenLuft hiking trail takes you up high and lives up to its name. But the reward for many an ascent is overwhelming: fantastic views of the Lahn valley and Kaiserbad. And the HöhenLuft, a Lahn facet of the Lahnwanderweg trail, is also an extremely varied circular tour. On the one hand, there is the beautiful nature with its unspoilt nature and, on the other, a landscape steeped in cultural history with evidence from antiquity to the present day.

Directions

Already the start of the tour with its view points enthroned above the Lahn provides for true "high feelings". Arriving at the Bismarck Tower, you have the first opportunity to take a break and treat yourself to some refreshment. From now on the character of the landscape changes and soon dense forest is a constant companion. One would feel completely far away from civilisation if traces of the Roman past did not remind one now and then that one is walking along the Limes. After a while, the resort of Kemmenau is reached, which at 417 metres above sea level is also the highest point of the tour. Sunny meadows and pastures now dominate the landscape. How good that from now on it is mostly downhill, because this way you can enjoy the great view over the Lahn Valley towards the Taunus without any worries. The Concordia Tower marks the beginning of the last section, and this one is really something special: always along the Baedecker Felsenweg and the legendary Heinzelmannshöhlen, the descent to the historic spa district leads from one impressive vantage point to the next. At the end of the tour, you have to breathe out and take a deep breath.
